October 2004
Ten Morning Rotarians cleaned up Mortensen Road and the Highway 30/Elwood Drive interchange on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004. The crew collected 14 bags of garbage, one tire and one perfectly good gas can.
Those working were John Ziegenbusch, Scott Sanders, Tim Ashley, Dave Inyang, Johnny Pickett, Russ Cross, Scott Bauer, Sue Wuhs, Jill Guffy and Dave Kraemer.
At Russ' suggestion, four of the crew left the usual route along Mortensen Road and went to the Highway 30 interchange with Elwood Drive. Rotarians cleaned up this stretch in spring during Stash the Trash and with the day's football game it was felt that cleaning up this area before company arrived was a good idea. We may consider adding this to our cleanup regularly, depending on the number of people available.
Six were left to clean up Mortensen Road, which was not too few.
Kraemer brought donuts. The leftovers were donated to the Emergency Residence Project.
A spring clean-up date will be set soon, possibly as part of an all-service-club work project.
