A Touch of Ames Morning Rotary Club History
by
Terry Adams

Over the years, several proposals were put forward by (then) District 600 to have Ames organize a second Rotary Club. A committee, consisting of Dave Klatt, PDG Waldo Wegner, Noon President Elect Charles Samuels, and Terry Adams, was established to explore the possibilities of forming a new club. A questionnaire was developed and given to the noon Ames Noon Club for input.

The first meeting of what was to become the Ames Morning Rotary was held at the Gateway Center. Those present were Dave Klatt, George Strawn, Steve Jungst, and Terry Adams. The four felt it necessary to expand the membership.

The new Rotary Club became official on 31 January 1989 although the Charter Night was 21 March 1989.
